A Meditation For Physical Challenges

:Meaghan Eady: A Meditation For Physical Challenges
Meditation doesn’t just have to be equivalent to a closed-eyed, Zen state. It can be brought to your physical, eyes-wide-open life.

The next time you find yourself confronting a physical challenge, you have a choice:

Do you wish to be challenged or to suffer?

We suffer when we cling to the bad in the moment, whether it’s an exhausted muscle or the sensation of pain. We choose to only feel that.

Instead, stay in the full moment and the way your body moves with breath. Every time you notice yourself returning to the habit of suffering, breathe deeply. Don’t stand in your own way of connection.

Even when things are challenging, they can be fully appreciated. You can bring gratitude to what your body is able to do in this moment. It’s not always going to be easy. But the hard times are what make us stronger, both physically and emotionally.

Randy Pausch said, “No matter how bad things are, you can always make things worse.” Let’s consciously choose not to do that.

One challenge at a time we can come closer to a clear consciousness.
