Top Zen List: 10 Celebrities Who Meditate

It's Friday and you've worked hard this week so, how about something easy? It's the Fast Friday 5 - a quick five things you need to know, served up nice and simple.
:Samantha Sekula: Top Zen List: 10 Celebrities Who Meditate
We’re not celebrities but if we were, we’d turn to meditation to keep us grounded and connected to our true selves.

And, we’d be in good company. Madonna, Oprah and Ellen may be the most famous celebu-meditators but they're not alone in their zen-quest.

Katy Perry. After watching her sail through the Superbowl skies on a shooting star (and managing 4 wardrobe changes), we're not surprised to discover that this pop star is a meditator. It would take a lot of calm to get through that! Katy credits her daily 20-minute meditation routine with keeping her grounded. It may be the best thing she got from her marriage to comedian Russell Brand who is a dedicated meditator and introduced her to it.

Ariana Grande. When you're one of the biggest pop singers in the world, you've got to do something to keep your head in the game. Ariana says meditation helps her stay present and let go of things. Whenever she needs to reconnect with the now or that sense of calm, she just sniffs some lavender (because lavender fills up her meditation space).

Kristen Bell & Dax Sheppard. This couple makes us swoon with their cuter than cute commercials and adorable inter-patter. We'll always see her as Veronica Mars and him as Crosby but there are two people in this world who see them as mom and dad and we bet their meditation practice makes them all one big zen family.

Sofia Vergara & Joe Manganiello. If Kristen and Dax win the cute couple of the year award, surely this couple takes it for hotness. But don't think that their beauty is only skin deep. This couple has been spotted multiple times taking in a meditation class together. Let's hope that couples that meditate together stay together because we'd love to see their beautiful latino werewolf babies.

Martin Scorsese. When you’ve got characters like the ones in Cape Fear, Good Fellas, Shutter Island and Gangs of New York inhabiting your mind they way this director does, it’s nice to know there's a way of escaping them. He’s been practicing meditation for years and says it changed his life. So much so, that he is now a big supporter of the David Lynch Foundation – started by a fellow intense-movie director.

Paul McCartney. Okay, we know this one is no surprise other than the fact that he’s still at it. Considered one of the first celebrities (along with the other Beatles) to introduce the concept of meditation to the Western world in the late 60’s, both he and Ringo Starr are still dedicated to their daily practice.

Jerry Seinfeld. What’s the deal with meditation? Jerry’s been practicing since 1972, so he knows the answer is no joke. He’s such a fan that he’s even taught it to fellow celebs like Alec Baldwin and George Stephanopolous. That’s gold, Jerry, gold.

Lena Dunham. She’s the queen of cable as the creator, writer and star of Girls plus she’s known to dish up attitude on a platter of self-confidence to any haters. Is it meditation that makes her the coolest cucumber in the patch? We don’t know, but we do know she’s been doing it since she was 9 and we’ll have what she’s having!

Whether you respect celebrity culture or not, there’s one thing you can’t deny about the above list – they’ve all got their act together.
