If you’re anything like us Westcoasters you have a major – bordering on problematic – love affair with sushi. If you do enjoy the occasional California roll, you’ll love this pseudo salad.
Save this recipe for when your 2013 health kick is starting to weigh on your nerves and you feel you can’t look at another piece of lettuce. Skip the nightly detour to your neighborhood sushi joint and serve this up with a bowl of simple homemade miso soup and gomae. Sorry. You’re on your own for those recipes for now…
Makes 4 servings
1. Whisk together 4 Tbsp vinegar, agave, and soy sauce.
2. Pour over cooked rice, and toss to mix. Whisk together remaining vinegar, wasabi and sesame oil and set aside.
3. Add crab, carrot, cucumber, onions, pickled ginger and sesame seeds to rice. Drizzle with wasabi mixture and toss.
4. Cut avocado into wedges, and add to salad. Sprinkle nori strips over salad and serve.
