Somewhere over the rainbow
Skies are blue,
And the dreams that you dare to dream
Really do come true.
Just say “Hawaii” and many people emit contented sighs.
Whether you’ve been there to spend time in Ukulele shops and drink out of coconuts, or it’s on your travel bucket list, Hawaii is synonymous with paradise.
Yes, there will be theory through lecture. But about 80% of the retreat will be dedicated to practice. Let us break it down for you: you spend 3 entire days dedicated to giving and receiving massage. In Hawaii. Drew grins: “It’s kinda awesome.”
Let’s imagine we are there, shall we? Days begin with a meditation that changes a little each day to explore different techniques. Then massage, massage, (sigh) massage. Another meditation to close. After class, students are free to explore the island. Conveniently, the retreat is planned during the equinox and you’ll be able to participate in an authentic Hawaiian ritual that is like an ocean cleansing. Or you can take part in the reputable sport of hammock napping.
The retreat takes place at the Still & Moving Centre in Honolulu, which is a beautiful space in and of itself (if you become disenchanted with the whole perfect sunset thing). They also offer classes you can take outside of the Thai massage program, from Nia to Aerial Yoga.
This retreat happens this September with three possible dates for the modules: September 12-14, September 15-17 and September 20-22. There’s some homework before the certification can be obtained, but it’s massage homework, people!
Should you want to stay in Hawaii a little longer, Drew isn't stopping you (he gets it – just as the weather starts to dip from summer temperatures, he gets out of dodge). Advanced modules are available September 26-28 or October 1-3.
If this peaks your interest, Drew has an affiliated travel agent that can help you with booking flights and accommodation.
And the dreams that you dare to dream really do come true.
